Big Changes to the Sport-Travel Roster

London, Ontario – July 17, 2017

Sport-Travel is proud to announce a number of exciting changes to our team.

In January, Gary Curgin, who has been the President of CSTT Sports Management, since our early days in the late 90’s, stepped down.

Taking his place is Tyler Childs. Childs has been with the company since 2011 acting as the company’s Director of Marketing and Sales.

Childs’ role was to engage with event partners, teams, and to build on what Curgin has built over his tenure, which spanned almost 20 years. Childs’ worked hand in hand with Curgin to grow and build a number of new and exciting opportunities within the company. Curgin will remain a member of the team acting as a consultant on a number of existing and future projects.

One of Childs’ first moves was to bulk up his management team. Acting quickly Sport-Travel acquired Scott Piner from Aimbridge Hospitality. Scott is a veteran of the hospitality industry spending over 20 years building several management companies which have all since been rolled up into Aimbridge Hospitality as part of their growing portfolio. Scott has help various positions throughout the hotel industry during his ascent to his most recent role as VP, National Sales. During Scott’s time with Aimbridge, he was responsible for managing the National Sales team and the company’s largest and most valued accounts. Sport-Travel was among those valued partners and the long-standing partnership made Piner’s acquisition a ‘no brainer’ for Sport-Travel. Scott will be responsible for managing Sport-Travel’s new and expanding opportunities. Enabling our current roster of event partners to flourish across new and existing endeavours. Effective immediately Piner will be Sport-Travel’s acting Chief Development Officer (CDO).

In addition to adding a new CDO, Sport-Travel is also introducing an industry expert in the form of a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Craig Karus
is joining Sport-Travel after nearly a decade at Triple Crown Sports , where Karus also held the title of CFO. When asked about Karus, Childs admitted ‘You only get the opportunity to acquire someone like Craig once. We couldn’t ignore what the opportunity represented for our company and never hesitated’. Craig spent his time at Triple Crown managing the company’s finances and lodging team.

‘We couldn’t be more excited about the most recent additions and the direction of our company’ said Childs.
